Introducing an online forum for watershed project managers! A free, one-hour webinar on Thursday, April 25, will walk participants through an innovative website for watershed project managers in the Mississippi River Basin.
The Great Rivers & Upstream Heroes Watershed Implementation & Innovation Network (WIIN) is an online resource for sharing detailed information about watershed projects throughout the Basin, including data and lessons learned. WIIN features a database of resources that is searchable by conservation practice or geography, as well as calendars and an online forum that encourages idea exchange, says Dave DeGeus of The Nature Conservancy, one of the developers of the site.
“The WIIN website is designed to provide watershed managers with ideas and inspiration, helping spread good ideas and successful innovations and connecting colleagues who might otherwise not have a chance to meet and collaborate,” says DeGeus. “WIIN is designed to complement the great work going on in so many watersheds through the Mississippi River Basin Initiative, to connect the many motivated, but often fairly isolated, people working on MRBI-funded projects.

“Through this crowdsourcing initiative, we’re connecting people on the ground and giving them access to resources from throughout the watershed, and building on the successes from across this growing community,” he adds.

The online session will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Central Standard Time. Karen A. Scanlon, the executive director of the Conservation Technology Information Center, which led the development of the WIIN website, will lead the webinar.

The webinar is the third in a series of WIIN sessions. WIIN is organized by the Conservation Technology Information Center (CTIC) and The Nature Conservancy’s Great Rivers Partnership, with funding from The Mosaic Company, the McKnight Foundation and Monsanto.
